I want to continue last week’s post with part 2 of bride’s regrets. So let’s get started!
Pamper Your Maids
“I’d ask my friends to be bridesmaids in really cute ways. I should have searched Etsy and Pinterest for ideas for this one. At the time, I wanted to pick bridesmaids immediately because I was so excited and wanted my close friends to know that I wanted them to be a part of our special day! But in my haste I ended up just asking my friends whenever I was talking to them, and I really wish I would have bought them a small gift or sent them something fun. There are just so many cute cards and ideas for this and I think it starts everything out really well with the whole wedding experience.” — Lisa from Two Martinis
“I’d buy bridesmaids (and myself) matching shirts to get ready in. I totally didn’t think about this detail AT ALL before the wedding, because I just figured we’d all get ready in bikinis! But of course I was sick and not thinking clearly and I ended up just throwing on a bikini coverup and now my ‘getting ready’ pictures are of me, braless, in my really old bikini coverup. WHOOPS. I wish I would have bought cute button-up shirts for myself and the bridesmaids so that everyone would have felt a little more prepared and pampered that morning!” — Lisa from Two Martinis
Interview More Caterers
“I loved our food, but not the presentation. I should have interviewed with a few caterers instead of just going with the highly recommended one. I felt very out of the loop on that part of my wedding, and wish I hadn’t.” — Stevie from Colorful Commotion
“I also would have spent SO MUCH less on cake. I swear we had enough cake and cupcakes left over to feed all of my hometown and then some. We opted for cupcakes and a small 3 tier cake, but in hindsight I might have just had a small cake to cut and a few sheet cakes, or had the cupcakes on the tables at dinner. No one really stops to eat cake at a wedding once they’re drinking and dancing!” — Stevie from Colorful Commotion
Don’t Stress Over Things You Can’t Control
“I wouldn’t even spend one second thinking about what the weather was going to be on ‘the big day’. We got married in Jamaica during hurricane season, so of course I was a bit nervous about the weather. And on flights being delayed/cancelled. And about what ‘Plan B’ would entail if we couldn’t get married outside that day… you know, the basic things. Of course, the weather was perfect. Wasted nervous energy and stress! I wish I would have just trusted that the resort would handle the weather and ‘Plan B’ if we needed it, so I could focus on other more important things that I could actually control.” — Lisa from Two Martinis
