Big surprise here, but I am going to be a Southern bride. One thing that Southern couples do (at least based on pictures and videos I have seen) is give each other gifts on your wedding day.
Here is my gripe with this. Jeremy and I share a bank account. I can see if he buys something for me and vise versa. We have talked about getting separate ones where parts of our paychecks go in them to help pay for things for each other, but we haven’t done that yet.
But this post is about gifts. Not bank accounts. However you decide to do your money when you get married is up to you. I’m not about to tell you what is right or wrong…every couple is different. Anyways, back to the gifts. Many times I have seen brides give things like watches or cuff links. Maybe a scrapbook of your time together. Something like that. The groom normally gives a necklace or bracelet that the bride will wear that day. Usually something sparkly.
Well, being the utilitarian couple that we are, HA!, we decided to not do traditional wedding gifts on our wedding day. Instead we decided to buy ourselves (together) a new fancy kitchen table and chairs!
WOO FREAKING HOO!
Ha! I know, I know…it’s practical but not exactly wedding, right? Well, it’s something we desperately need. It’s something we were going to replace eventually. And it’s something I wanted so that we can finally have 8 people over at one time and eat dinner together. Yes, this table fits 8 people.
It’s much bigger than we need now, but it’s something we can grow in to. We made an investment, so to speak, for our house by buying something we both wanted and we really needed.
Goodbye UGLY ROUND PAINTED CRAP of a table. Goodbye Meme’s chairs. You will not be missed.
And hello pretty!
What are you planning to give each other, if anything?

- Please please please turn Word Verification OFF of your comments. I like commenting on everyone’s post and it drives me crazy when I have to deal with word verification. Please go here to fix it.
- Read other people’s posts! I personally love finding new inspiration or ideas from others.
