Our sendoff was so much better than sparklers. It was so much better than bubbles. It was so much better than anything else that there could have been. How is that possible? Our sendoff was with Chinese wish lanterns.
I knew VERY early on in the planning process that I wanted wish lanterns to be our send off. If it wasn’t our sendoff, I wanted to be able to release one for Jeremy and myself.
One thing you need to make sure of, if you want to use wish lanterns at your wedding, is to let your venue approve it. One thing I didn’t know until I did research was that wish lanterns do go up in the air, but sometimes they don’t burn up. Sometimes they fall back down to where you are. So, you have to pick up the reminants if any fall down. We did have probably 15/20 fall back down, but we were at an amazing venue and they cleaned them up for us!
Our venue was truly amazing and let us do pretty much everything we wanted. I approached them about using wish lanterns so early on in the planning, and they didn’t ever tell me no. It was such a perfect send off for us.
Now, on to the pictures, because they are truly amazing.
We sent up 2 wish lanterns at our wedding. The first one was more of a test – if you will. The photographers didn’t quite get the shots they wanted, so we did another wish lantern. The fun part of doing the 2nd wish lantern was that everyone else was finished with theirs, and they got to watch us release ours.
I had no idea that everyone was watching us release our 2nd wish lantern until I got the pictures back, but I actually loved that they all got to see us release ours. The pictures below are from our 2nd wish lantern release.
