The wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of planning – at least it was for me. I loved trying on dresses and finding just the perfect one.
I was looking over all of my wedding posts and I realized that I never talked about my dress. My wedding dress was purchased at a smaller boutique in Atlanta and the experience was fantastic. In Atlanta, most of the dress boutiques each carry different designers, so I knew what sort of dress that I wanted before I picked the store I wanted.
My dress was Allure Romance Style 2610.
One thing I knew I wanted with a wedding dress was sleeves. I wanted some type of sleeve because I hated strapless dresses on me. (I tried a few strapless dresses on and they were awful).
I also knew that I wanted lace. I had decided very early on that I would be using my mom’s veil on my wedding day. It became my something borrowed/old. I didn’t know this when I first tried this dress on, but the lace from my dress and my mom’s veil was the same. All I knew was that I wanted lace to match the trim of her veil.
At the salon, they gave me the cream colored sash and I loved it! The way it pulled in my waist just completed the look. I was sold! That was to be sew into my dress. I had also found the jeweled belt that I was only going to wear during the reception. Well, during alterations, they put both on together and I loved the way it looked. They were able to sew both into the dress for me. It looks like one complete piece, even though it isn’t. I love the way it looks.
My dress was $1,200. I know this might be a lot to some brides, but it was the perfect price for me. Alterations were about $500 (this is because my dress is all lace and it had to be taken up because it was too long).
What sold me on the dress was how comfortable it was. It just felt like silk on my skin and I loved that feeling. It also wasn’t nearly as heavy as some other dresses I tried on.
