Let me let you in on a little backstory.
I used to swim. Think Missy Franklin or Michael Phelps. Obviously I wasn’t anything like they are. My times were terrible. I don’t remember any of them. But anyways, I swam like they do. In an Olympic sized pool. It’s bigger than they make it look like, by the way.
The team I swam for was Swim Atlanta, a USS swim team. Basically that just means that you swim year around. Summers are for the long course pool (think Olympic sized) and winter is for the short course pool.
And so begins our tale:
I believe it was winter and we were going to a competition. The meet was in Huntsville, AL so we all had to take a bus to get there. Now, let me say that this was one of my first times by myself with people I didn’t know. There were multiple Swim Atlanta locations and none of my friends were taking the bus.
So, I was by myself on a bus with people I didn’t know. Going to a place I had never been to before. Awesome, right?
Well, I am not a very good traveler. I get car sick. No, this is not about me becoming nauseous or anything. I have to take Dramamine whenever I travel and am not driving because I do get sick quite often. Well, I took some on this trip and at the time, the only kind they had was the drowsy kind. So I fell asleep. When I woke up, I had to pee. Like hardcore.
Having never really flown before (I was young–early middle school), I wasn’t sure about how to do the bathroom on a bus. After getting up enough courage that I can do it, I walk to the back of the bus and go into the bathroom.
I don’t want this to get to wordy, so I am going to speed things up.
I somehow got locked in the bus bathroom. I started crying (because I was scared and traumatized, AKA dramatic). I tried so hard to get out that people on the other side of the door started to help me figure it out. I finally after what felt like 30 minutes got out.
I opened the door and the entire bus was in the back clapping that I had made it out alive. Talk about embarrassing to a 12 year old. Terrible.
Now, like any normal person, I have blocked out so much of this story. But it really did happen and I can’t believe I am admitting it on the blog.
Have you ever been locked in a bathroom before?
What is your most embarrassing story?
