I have a special treat for you guys today. You know I am on a weight watchers journey, and Rachel from Well Worn Soles has some advice for getting your post baby body back. Enjoy!
After I had my first baby, I was really unsure of how to drop the pounds while still eating enough calories to maintain my nursing. While I wanted to lose the weight quickly, my main priority was being able to feed my little girl. I gained 33lbs so I definitely had some work to do in order to get back in my pre-baby pants!
On of my best friends suggested Weight Watchers to me. She had done it after her baby and lost over 80lbs. She suggested WW Online because it didn’t require any meetings and I could use it on my phone which worked great for a working mom with a new baby. WW also has a great program for nursing mothers which takes into account the additional calories and water needed.
Here I am just months before I got pregnant with our first little girl:

Here we go again – 5 weeks with #2!
I ended up doing WW for 8 months and I would say for about 6 of the 8 I was pretty consistent logging my foods and tracking my weight. My food choices really didn’t change too much, but where WW really helped was with the portion control. I didn’t need a complete overhaul of what to eat because I have always been a pretty healthy eater, but am also not willing to give up chips, queso or sweets. WW allowed me to eat all of those things within reason. It took me a total of 4 months to lose the weight and around 5.5 months to be back in all my smallest pre-baby clothes.
I stopped doing WW once I found out I was pregnant with our second baby. After my second little girl, I did sign up for WW but ended up canceling it after a few months because I never really used it. But I am still really aware of what I am eating and the portion controls. I am back to my pre-baby weight, but still can’t zip those ole skinny jeans yet.
I’ve tracked my post baby weight loss over on my blog if you want to follow along. I can assure you there will be a huge party when my goal jeans finally fit again!
WW totally worked for me. It was a tool that held me accountable while still making sure I was eating nutritiously, but it also didn’t make me feel deprived of my favorite foods! I will be the first person to suggest WW to lose your post baby pounds or just drop some pounds in general. Weight loss is a battle so many people are on and I find it so encouraging reading about other women’s journeys, struggles, and successes!
