No really. I don’t know who I am right now. I bought a new cookbook and I think that has turned me into a cooking fiend again.
I loved cooking. And then I think that the stress of wedding planning just took over. I couldn’t handle it anymore, so I stopped cooking for a while. I just wasn’t motivated. I didn’t want to cook anything. I didn’t want to spend time after work cooking. It just wasn’t in me for a while.
Well, that all changed when I bought the cookbook, The Newlywed Cookbook. Yes, it sounds cheesy, but there are so many delicious recipes in this book that I knew I had to have it. You see, I asked for a different cookbook from Anthropologie for Christmas, and I actually didn’t like what recipes were in that book. So, I took it back and knew that I would find something better – and boy, did I ever!
I mean, I cooked risotto last night. This has been something I always wanted to try to make, but I never had a good recipe for it. Well, there was a fabulous recipe in this cookbook, so I had to try it. Plus, we got a Le Creuset as a wedding gift recently, so I had to jump on the opportunity to finally use it.
Besides this delicious recipe, I have already made Carrot Cake Bars with Cream Cheese Icing. Holy moly! This is a dessert that we will constantly be making. And it was easy!
I am just so happy that I have my love of cooking back. I had missed being in the kitchen, but I just was never inspired enough to cook anything worthwhile. Well, that has changed! Oh, and I have lasagna in the refrigerator right now that we will heat in the oven tomorrow. I’m excited about that, because I have never ever tried a lasagna. People have told me how hard it is (and it’s a lot of steps), but I wouldn’t say it’s actually that difficult to make. It’s just a lot of steps to get it together – so we will see how it turns out.
