Since I am getting married I knew it was imperative to finally get it cleared up. And for good.
So, I took my booty to the dermatologist, finally, and got a regiment to get my skin cleared up.
I have been to the dermatologist in the past but it didn’t really work with me. They didn’t really listen to me and my problems. They just seemed to want to get to the next patient as quick as possible. You see, I have super sensitive skin but I also probably didn’t really understand my skin the way I do now. Not only is it sensitive, but it also likes to break out when Auntie Flo is in town. So, when I mentioned that to the new dermatologist, she said I have Hormonal Acne. I always thought I had adult acne. MIND BLOWN!
What’s the difference? Well, from what I understand, hormonal acne is more on the chin and cheek area of your face. And you get flare ups during that time of the month. And they are always the really deep ones that hurt A LOT. Yea, I have that. Adult acne is just like teenage acne but for adults. I could be wrong about that description, and probably am! I am no Doctor.
So, I was put on 2 antibiotics and 2 topical lotions that I interchange each night. I use the sulfur lotion one night and the retin-A another night. I have been doing this about 2 weeks already and I am seeing results. Oh and I started using my Clarisonic again. I now only use it every 2 days in the morning…sometimes less if I don’t feel the need for it.
Honestly, I know that finally going to a dermatologist that listened to me and really understood my skin is the best thing I have done for myself in a long time. If there is any advice I can give to someone suffering from acne, it is that you need to find a dermatologist that will listen to you. Not only did she listen, but I felt confident in her plan for my skin. I am seeing results already and I know it will get better.
What worked for your crappy skin?
