I know that a lot of people won’t agree with me on this, but I also know the importance of it.
One aspect of wedding planning that was hugely important to us was that we got a high quality wedding video. I’m not talking about just the ceremony taped or 6 hours of continuous coverage. I’m talking about an edited video put to music that captures our wedding day in a shorter time frame. Cinematic, if you will.
I knew we had something wonderful when I got the email that our trailer film was posted online. It brought everything back to us and reminded us why we chose to get a video. We watched it more times that I really want to admit and we loved it.
What was included in the package?
Our package included rehearsal and rehearsal dinner coverage, full wedding day coverage, the unedited ceremony, interviews, speeches and bonus footage. She also put our trailer on there for us.
Why a wedding video?
Our wedding day flew by (and yours will too if you are planning a wedding now). There are moments that I had completely forgotten about. There are things that pictures just don’t capture. The emotion of the day is something you can’t really create from a photograph. But on video, you get it all.
Let me explain. During our reception, my dad made a speech. There is a picture (it’s below) of me looking like I’m about to cry. Since his speech was not on our trailer video, I didn’t know what made me look like that or what he said.

Like I said, I didn’t know what was said when I first got these pictures. The full length video changed all of that. After my dad thanked everyone for coming, he said something that made me want to cry – it still does. He said something along the lines of:
“One of the greatest things a father can do is to give his daughter away to a wonderful man.”
When he said these words, he got chocked up and that is what caused me to get teary eyed. I would never have known that if I didn’t have a video to remind me.
There are many more reasons why I think a video is very important to preserve your wedding day and the memories of it. Since we had our grandmothers read a poem during the ceremony, we have that in full in our full length wedding video. I’m sorry, but that is priceless and something we will forever treasure. Because, I can tell you that the details of that day will become a blur before you even know it.
Would you get a wedding video?
