How do you define happiness?
Is there a quiz you can take to tell you if you are happy or not?
Is happiness defined by how many friends you have or how social your life is?
What about happiness just you by yourself reading a book?
The point is that there is no clear way to measure happiness. For me, I feel most happy when I have accomplished things (work, wedding things, eating healthy, blog stuff). You get the idea! I like being able to check things off my list. There is something so magical about putting that little check-mark by something or crossing something off a list. I just love that. Maybe that’s the only reason why I love to make lists.
Easy Ways to Define Happiness:
- Journal. Writing down your feelings (probably not on your blog) are great ways to help you define what makes you happy. As you journal, you should be able to go back and see themes throughout your journal. I found that while I was writing things down I would just start pouring my heart out and I felt so much better.
- Take time for yourself. I love spending time alone. I can be in a silent room and it is the best thing ever. I actually sometimes prefer “alone” time to spending time with other people. Obviously, that isn’t always the case, but I do find solice in alone time.
- Go outside and walk around. I don’t know what it is about being outside (not when there are sub zero temps, obviously), but I love it. Walking around and seeing the beauty of nature really makes me happy. Breathing in fresh air isn’t too shabby either.
- Get out of your house. I work from home Mondays and Fridays. Yes, that is great and all, but that means that I could be in my house for 4 days straight. Have you ever been anywhere for 4 straight days? I get really grumpy when I have been stuck at home for too long, so I get out of the house when I start to feel this way.
