About a month ago, my family celebrated a huge milestone. My grandmother turned 90. And in Meme fashion, we had a wonderful, beautiful surprise party for her. Now, I know what you might be thinking. Who thinks it’s a good idea to have a surprise party for a 90 year old? Well, I had a few doubts about it, but everything turned out beautifully.
Surprise! The queen is here.
She clearly was surprised and had no idea we were all going to be there. I just love this picture.
If you ever wondered what to do with all your used wedding decor, host a party! We used so much of our wedding decor, made special for her birthday party. I loved that we were able to reuse everything and we didn’t have to buy much for her party.
This sign was right when she walked it. It was huge and sort of a headache to figure out where to put it, but I thought it looked great. And it was the same chalkboard that was used at our wedding. Even the “Welcome” part was from our wedding. Pretty cool, right?
Our white lanterns were back as well as the guestbook sign. For the guestbook, we had Fujifilm Mini that took pictures of all the guests. Then, we just had the guests tape them into a book and sign their names. They wrote the sweetest things for Meme…it was so precious.
I loved seeing all these old pictures of Meme and the family. It was so special to have them all out and on display. We just got magnets and secured the pictures to the board. We had used this board as our escort card display board for our wedding, so again…we got to reuse our wedding decor.
These are tears of joy and happiness, I promise you. She didn’t know Jeremy and I were going to be there and I broke down as she walked in. I clearly couldn’t contain my affection or love for her. And she deserved every bit of her party. She asked that we do it again when she turns 100.
Happy Birthday Meme! I hope your day was everything we hoped for you.
